Meet the Band

Herb Alpert’s Tijuana Brass

Steve, Trumpet

Steve has many years experience playing Brass. He has played with some of the Top Brass Bands in the World, and top musicians with The Syd Lawrence Orchestra, The Northern Dance Orchestra (now the BBC Northern Radio Orchestra) and of course MAMBO, Latin Tribute Band (to Herb Alpert’s Tijuana Brass) and Latin Party Band which he formed five years ago.

Steve has played at many Prestigious Venues (Royal Albert Hall, Henley on Thames Regatta, Strawberry Studios (of The Beatles Fame) Radio Manchester, Radio Stoke, Gawsworth Hall, and Premiership Football Stadiums) to name a few.

He is extremely passionate in his music and commitment to driving the Band forward to greater heights and recognition within the Music World.

Irene, Lead Vocalist

Irene joins MAMBO as an extensive and successful Professional Vocalist

Not content simply to stand behind a microphone, Irene engages with the audience. Even then it’s not just about singing a song – it’s feeling it, interpreting it, and delivering the subtleties and nuances of it’s meaning to the audience.

It’s that ability and appreciation which sets Irene apart from the rest.

Her career has been influenced by an assortment of genres and performing in musicals with lead vocals in Sweet Charity and Chicago. She has also had the amazing experience of performing in Phantom of the Opera. Her guilty pleasure has been to sing in Dance Bands,

MAMBO are delighted to have Irene share her talents and perform Lead Vocals with the band.

Leighroy, Solo Percussion

Leighroy is a truly talented multi – instrumentalist – playing Keyboards, Synths and Percussion. He is painstaking to detail and perfection in all of his performances. Leighroy is the flamboyant member of the band and contributes immensely with the musical arrangements that brings those true Latin American Rhythms and feel, giving that unique niche in our repertoire.

Leighroy is a great asset and much valued member of Mambo Band.

Tony, Keys & Electronics

You could say Tony is the engine room of the Band, creating that solid sound and support to all we do. Tony has had many years experience as a top professional musician and multi instrumentalist, having played ten years with the Royal Marines Band on many Royal Family Events and Government Occasions. After leaving the Royal Marines, Tony continued his music career playing with a number of semi professional bands. This Pedigree (over the years) has produced a confident and versatile top musician.

Although usually positioned towards the back of the Band with his Yamaha Tyros 5, and amongst all the PA, Mixers, Electronics and Synths at his fingertips, Tony is a very much  valued Band Member.
